A collection of my animation and motion graphics work from the past few years. It's been a wild ride!
I had the honor of directing the 2016 Provincetown Film Festival trailer. A love letter to the fine artists that have called Provincetown home, this piece was a collaborative effort by the entire animation team.
Artist highlighted include Edward Hopper, Henry Hensche, Marsden Hartley, Hans Hofmann, Helen Frankenthaler, and Jackson Pollock. These are just a few of the artists that gave the town it's rich history and led to Provincetown's title of: America's Oldest Art Colony.
Co-Animators - Brian Thompson, Eric Riggs, & Allison Howle
It's almost impossible to pick a favorite project from 2014 but if I absolutely had to it would be this one. Each year CRASH+SUES donates their time and efforts towards The Minneapolis/St.Paul International Film Festival in the form of a trailer. This year the entire animation team jumped on board for one of the most collaborative efforts yet. MSPIFF wanted to portray the variety of films they show each year so highlighting classic genres seemed to be the perfect direction. Each of us picked 3 from the list and went to town. It was a blast!
My genres were - sports, noir, and horror.

The Film Society of Minneapolis / St. Paul asked CRASH+SUES to create the branding for the 35th annual Minneapolis / St. Paul International Film Festival.
I worked as a designer and supporting animator, helping to expand the branding for a wide variety of applications.
Making animated GIFs has been a bit of an addiction for me recently. These bite-sized bits of animation are a perfect no-pressure project. Here are a few of my favorites!
A miscellaneous collection of projects from over the years.
A series of videos CRASH+SUES created with Minnesota Public Radio and music teachers everywhere. A set of teaching aids created to make classical music engaging and fun! Be sure to check out Clark the Catepillar in Elements of Music; it's my personal favorite.

We teamed up with Gatesman+Dave to produce a series of videos for UPMC and their online diagnosis service.
I art directed and animated each of the three spots.
A collection of styleframes and miscellaneous design things created for projects that either went in a different direction or got cancelled entirely.
I really enjoy these so it seemed a shame to just leave them forgotten in some archived folder. Maybe they'll find new life somewhere down the road.
A big dumping of my favorite personal illustrations and sketches.
Alien laser space battle. That was the idea that Best Buy had when they came to CRASH+SUES for this video. I was immediately onboard and got busy with designing and animating this not-so-typical corporate event video.
First rough cut rolls around and the feedback is -
I think I won the best clients ever lottery with this one.

Opening titles for the TV show pilot - The Summers Sisters that I art directed and animated. Additional animation and cleanup help from: Allison Howle - Fishy Thom - Violet Sunde.
"Two sisters with opposite parenting styles are forced to live together when the younger sister and her family need a place to stay. It’s the classic Odd Couple until you toss in the middle sister who has to crash on the couch. Three very different women who might never be friends, but they have to because they are sisters."

I've been working on capturing color and light effectively with these digital studies. Straight from my eyeballs - no color picker used.
